Arianna and Matt’s Wedding at Hall Place
Arianna and Matt’s Wedding at Hall Place.
Hall Place in Bexley was the venue for Arianna and Matt’s wedding. Both Bride and Groom got ready at home and met at the venue for their ceremony. Hall place is a grade 1 listed house and gardens. It is situated on the bank of the river Cray in Bexley. From it’s picturesque gardens filled with topiary figures to the Tudor architecture, the sense of history and grandeur at Hall Place is palpable and it is easy to see why any couple would choose this for their special day.
There was a beautiful courtyard which was overlooked on three sides by the house. Having the Tudor checkerboard effect of the house as a backdrop made for some wonderful confetti shots. Speaking of which, I’m not sure whether the venue have a rule about not using confetti or whether Arianna and Matt chose to have streamers as an alternative to the traditional paper petals, but I loved the streamers, they made for some very interesting and dynamic shots.
The cool thing for me with any venue is the ability to get photos from different perspectives. Hall Place has an upper balcony overlooking the wedding breakfast, this allowed me to get some arial shots of the tables and guests during the speeches. As a photographer I’m always please when I’m able to get up high or have the ability to play with interesting perspectives.
I’ve known Arianna for some years and was delighted when she asked me to photograph her wedding. I first met Arianna and Matt as a couple at their engagement shoot 6 months prior to their wedding. Matt was very clear about the fact that he didn’t like having his photo taken. Despite this he was a trooper and took the engagement shoot seriously, giving them some beautiful images before the wedding.
This hard work paid dividends on the day as we were running behind schedule and found ourselves with very little time for the couples photos. I had scoped out some top spots at Hall Place prior to the couples photos. The practice of the engagement shoot kicked in and the couples photos were taken in record time putting us back on track. Matt and Arianna were consummate professionals and worked really well with me to create their images.
Matt and Arianna are keen travellers so much so that they were able to make a theme of their travels for the table decoration and place settings. They had Phileas Fogg styled air balloons as centre pieces together with old styled postcards from each of the countries where there have ventured. The seating plan was also a map of the world with annotations denoting their guests seating.
Matt and Arianna were surrounded by their friends and family for their special day, they were the perfect hosts and really made me feel welcome and part of their day. Their guests were warm and were all genuinely ecstatic for the couple. It’s always lovely to photograph a wedding where you can feel the collective love for the couple coming from the guests so freely and this was one of those weddings.
Congratulations to Matt and Arianna who make a wonderful couple, I wish you all the best for the future.
