Fashion shoot with Danielle
I met with Danielle in London for a fashion shoot. This was to provide her with some images to show prospective clients and agencies. Danielle wanted a more environmental fashion shoot, getting out of the studio and using the natural light, architecture and scenery of Westminster. It was clear when we started that Danielle was happy to experiment and allow me free creative reign, with the lighting and composition.
This Fashion shoot was held on a summer’s evening with some very harsh sunlight, so I need to use extra flash to compensate for the strong sun. If you’ve ever taken a photo of someone with the sun behind them and they have come out as a silhouette, then a little flash will help to light them up, however, this needs to be carefully balanced and can be tricky to get right when you’re first starting out.
Danielle explained to me that the purpose of the fashion shoot was for her to have a few different styles to show to clients and agents, she knew that she didn’t want boring or overly posed photos and that she wanted to inject her own sense of style and fun the images. Danielle was also happy for me to direct her to ensure that we were getting the right photos which met the brief.
Feedback from Danielle was that she had great success from these images and felt that they have added to her already strong portfolio. It was great to work with her and as with each session that is different from my normal type of work, I learned a great deal about, lighting, composition and fashion photography.
